Newscasting
Are you interested to be a news anchor? Or do you have any talent in
newscasting, but you don’t have any chance to show it? It’s time to explore
your talent on newscasting! Come join us on BEYOND 2015 and be the champion!
Rules and Eligibility of Newscasting Competition
- Java
and Bali High School participant
- The topic will be announced soon
- The
contents and materials used in this competition originated from the committee cannot be altered. Every participant should make their own opening and closing sentence.
- There
are special rules for the costume. Participants should pay attention to these special rules. Failure to act accordingly will lead to point decrement.
1. Tops
a. Each
participant has to wear a formal shirt. Participants are not allowed to wear a
t-shirt
b. Each
participant has to wear a blazer. Participants are not allowed to wear any kind
of jacket, including school jacket.
c. It
is advisable to wear a neutral or dark colour blazer.
2. Skirt
or Trousers
a. Male
participants have to wear a formal trouser.
b. Female
participants are allowed to wear a formal skirt or a formal trouser.
c. It
is advisable to wear a neutral or dark colour trouser or skirt.
d. Every
participant is not allowed to wear shorts or jeans.
3. Shoes
a. Male
participants have to wear black or dark colour loafer shoes.
b. Female
participants are allowed to wear loafer shoes or pump heels.
c. It
is advisable to wear neutral or dark colour shoes.
d. Each
participant is not allowed to wear sandals or sneakers.

Round (30 participants)
- Participants
will perform the news reading and weather forecast directly.
- There will
be three different topics. So, each 10 participants will get 1 same topic.
- There will
be lottery on technical meeting to decide the topic and performance
arrangement.
a. News Reading
- Participants
will read a news which already provided by the committee.
- All
participants will get the same material.
- The maximum
time that will given is 8 minutes.
b. Weather
Forecast
- Participants
will read the weather forecast which already provided by the committee.
- The weather forecast
will be read directly after the participant read the news (there are no
preparation time).
- All
participants will get the same material.
- The maximum
time that will given is 3 minutes.
Because the news reading and weather forecast
are performed directly, so the timing will be like:
· 8 minutes =
green flag (to warn the participant that the time for news reading is over and
the participants should read their weather forecast.)
· 10 minutes =
yellow flag
· 11 minutes =
red flag
2. Semifinal
Round (15 participants)
Live report
- The
participant will report a video that will be given by the committee.
- The
committee will provide three videos with three different topics. So, each 5
participants will get 1 same video to be reported.
- There will
be lottery on breaking night party to decide the topic and performance
arrangement.
- The
participant will report the video directly after he/she watch the video.
- There will
be 3 videos, so there are 5 participants who will get 1 same video.
- The duration
of the video is 5 minutes on maximum.
- The maximum
time for reporting the video is 8 minutes. The committee will give a sign on
minute 5 (green flag), 7 (yellow flag), and at the end of the duration (red
flag).
3. Final Round
(7 participants)
Interviewing
- There are
three special guests. They role as an actor.
- Because
there are only three special guests, each 4 participants will get 2 different
special guests and the other 3 participants will get the last special guest.
- There will
be lottery after the semifinal round to decide the special guest and
performance arrangement.
- The
participants will interviewing the special guest and ask their opinion about a
certain issue.
- The maximum
time that will given is 8 minutes. The committee will give a sign on minute 5
(green flag), 7 (yellow flag), and at the end of the duration (red flag).

Story Telling Category
Do you like reading a story
and telling that story to your friends as well ? Do you like to be the center of
attention ? Get yourself ready to tell the story you read to a wide-spread
people in BEYOND 2015 !!! Make yourself the new champion of the new story
telling competition this year !
Rules and Eligibility of Story Telling Competition
- Participants who are allowed to join “Story Telling” competition are Senior High School students of class X, XI, and XII from Java and Bali regions.
- Rounds
1. Preliminary
Round (Prepared Story)
Fairytales are free; every participant can choose any
fairytale he/she wants to perform except:
- The Golden Goose
- The Seven Ravens
- Rapunzel
- Queen Bee
- The Poor Man and the Rich Man
Top 15
participants will perform in a form of a group. Each group consists of 3 members based on the lottery, but the scoring is individual.
Top 5
participants will be given a short beginning of the story and they will continue the story according to their own creativity, the ending must not be the same as
the real story but without changing the moral values.
- The
story script for preliminary round must be copied triple and attached with a copy of student identity card and submitted on the technical meeting day.
- Duration
2. Semi Final : min. 6 minutes and max. 9 minutes
3. Final : min. 7 minutes and max. 10 minutes
- The
participants are allowed to use properties and costumes to support their performance

Rules and Eligibility of Debate Competition
- Java
and Bali High School participant: 3 members only
- Prepared
for impromptu motion
- Theme
of the competition is “Humanity Movement”
- Format:
Asian Parliamentary System (APS)
- Before
debate round is started, each group will be given 30 minutes to prepare their arguments after their motion is set.
- During
debating, the participant IS NOT ALLOWED to make any cynical remarks regarding
ethnic, religion, race, and any prejudiced stereotype. The adjudication core will respond to any equity complain seriously.
- The
dress code for the participant of debate competition is their school uniform.
- If
the participant of debate competition is in odd number, the committee will
provide ‘swing team.’
